Alash - Alash Track listing:
This is a beautiful studio recording of new and old songs with Alash in top form. Includes background on Tuvan music and culture as well as a ten page booklet of Tuvan song lyrics with English translations; but don't read them until you let your mind create it's own image of the songs as Sean Quirk suggests! In 2004, Alash won first prize at the International Symposium "Khoomei," throat singing competition. The group won "Best Folk Music Group" in 2000 and 2003, and they came to the United States for a concert tour in 2006 under the Open World Leaders program of the Library of Congress and National Endowment for the Arts. |

NEW ALBUM and Book!
Ayarkhaan - 80 page Book with CD Book is written in 3 languages – Yakut, Russian and English and consists of 80 pages.
For years, Ayarkhaan have been leaders in the revival and preservation of the traditional music of Yakutia. The music of Ayarkhaan draws on the powers of Nature and the ancient traditions and wisdom of the Yakut people to create an atmosphere of timeless encounter between Man and the Universe. Ayarkhaan's performances on the Khomus – an instrument that was said to have been made by gods and possess a magical voice - are inspired by a tradition that has been handed down for centuries but also reflects modern musical thinking. Throughout the Russian Federation, scholars, critics and concert-goers alike have hailed Ayarkhaan as the vanguard sound of the Yakut Khomus, an instrument whose tonal versatility and acoustic resonance is at once capable of evoking the sound of a cello, a saxophone, or an electric guitar while occupying a sonic space that is ancient, transcendent and utterly unique. This book will introduce the history and culture of the Yakut people as well as the secrets of the Khomus playing. The enclosed CD includes examples of some of Ayarkhaan's very best compositions.

NEW ALBUM ! Ene-Sie - Alaak
A great folk band from Tuva! This album features the rarely heard and extraordinary folk artist and eldest member of Tyva Kyzy Nadejda Kuular and master throat-singer and Igil player Sergei Ondar of the original Tuva ensemble among others. Songs on the album are full of blessings, tongue twisters and traditional songs depicting the sonic landscapes of Tuvan hunter and herder life with an extra dose of vivid animal sounds! Totally great CD!
A great album to dance with or to enjoy with kids! |
